The new Lenexa Justice Center on Prairie Star Parkway is open! Congratulations to the construction project team working since 2022 to design and build one of the most sleek and modern public building complexes on the Kansas prairie. City officials cut the ribbon on August 26, 2024 to officially mark the beginning of a new era.
Lenexa Mayor Julie Sayers praised the project team for its ‘dedication and hard work’ in constructing the Center’s state-of-the-art design, and expressed gratitude for the team’s achievement in finishing on schedule and on budget.
It’s hard to believe the project started with an ambitious planning meeting in a vacant field. Now look at the results! The modern $73 million complex is the new home for the Lenexa Police Department and Municipal Court. It’s beautiful inside and out with training spaces, expansive meeting spaces, a central location that will make doing business easier for residents, and plenty of room for growth.
AOG was proud to contribute Geotechnical expertise and Special Inspections to such an important project helping to shape the future of the local community. Our engineers and field technicians were on site from the start back in 2022, when substantial earth moving across several acres kicked off construction.
“Our Lenexa Justice Center work continues our long, proud tradition of helping to shape police stations, fire departments, and other public buildings across the Kansas City area,” said AOG President and CEO Allan Bush. “It’s an important part of our heritage going back more than 40 years.”
The Center now stands as a tribute to strong collaboration between local construction firms, including JE Dunn, Renaissance Infrastructure Consulting (RIC), BSE Architecture and Henderson Engineers, and the power we share in building a strong path into the future for the communities we call home.
