Project Description

3435 Main Street Modular Housing Structure, Kansas City, Missouri

Built on top of a former surface parking lot, 3435 Main is Kansas City, Missouri’s first multi-story prefabricated modular housing structure. The parking lot foundation, including some unexpected concrete structures found inside, was completely removed to clear the site. The apartment modules were constructed in a Nebraska factory and transported to Kansas City by truck. Each one, soundproofed with its own structural integrity, was then craned onto a cast-in-place concrete plinth. Stacked five-stories high, the building has 80 apartments.
